Why shouting about UK tourism is always important … even now!

I’m sure like so many of you up and down the country, we sat with bated breath on Sunday evening, waiting to hear just what Boris had to say.

Although there is a glimmer of hope that some of us in the Tourism industry might be able to start getting back in our feet in a July, it’s clear we’ve got a long way to come before we’re back to any kind of ‘normailty’

From talks with members of our Explore Eat Stay community we know the hardest part for many of you. Is not being able to have that interaction with your customers and guests that, within this industry you become accustomed too.

So we thought we’d put together a blog post with suggestions of how our community has kept in touch with their customers during lockdown!Interactive Quiz

1. Pub Quiz

The fantastic team at The Merry Harriers (find them on Explore Eat Stay here) have put together a of range interactive ‘pub quizzes’ over on their Instagram page – great to bring locals and potential visitors together – nothing says community like a bit of friendly rivalry right?

2. Competition Time

Parkway Hotel and Spa (find them on Explore Eat Stay here) are offering a range of fantastic competitions, offering lucky winners the chance, to wine, dine and stay in their hotel. Not only is this a great way of interacting with your community, it also creates a buzz for when things do go back to ‘normal’.

3. Bring The Outdoors In

Hunky Dory Days, a fantastic canal boat for hire (find on Explore Eat Stay here) have had the fantastic idea of sharing images of the waterways and canals to their following. These beautiful images are great for not only showing just why everyone should experience a canal holiday at least once … but offering a form of escapism for those self-isolationg, or who geographically can not enjoy the magnificent water ways of the UK.

4. Or Why Not Bring The Whole Tourism Industry Together?

It goes without saying, we could not put this blog post together without a mention to The Hayloft Devon, it all began with Sarah offering a two night stay in her self-catering property, to be won by a deserving NHS worker, to say thank you for all their much appreciated hard work during this crisis. To date the #treatournhs campaign as it’s become, now has over 700 businesses involved, each offering a prize for a well deserved NHS worker. To find out more about taking part, or to nominate your NHS hero visit The Hay Loft Devon on Instagram here
