Description
The South Wales Miners Museum, first opened back in the 1970’s, become the first mining museum in Wales.
The museum is located within the beautiful Afan Forest Park, within the Afan Valley, just six miles from Port Talbot.
A registered charity, the museum is run by volunteers, all dedicated to promoting industrial heritage.
Visitors are taken on a historical journey, in the working life of a miner and the hardship that both adults and children had to endure.
The museum is made up of both indoor and outdoor exhibits, including a Blacksmith Shop, Lamp Room and an Engine House.
Please note that the museum is open daily during the summer season, and Thursday to Sunday in the winter season.
