Description
Boat Trips to visit the Farne Islands, Lindisfarne/Holy Island and the beautiful Northumbrian coastline from Seahouses harbour. The Farne Islands are home to a large colony of Grey Seals all year round with seal pups born in November December and from May till the end of July, they are home to tens of thousands of nesting seabirds including Puffins, Guillemots, Eider Ducks, Razorbills, Arctic Terns, Cormorants, Shags and Kittiwakes. One of the outer Farne Islands, Longstone, was also made famous by Grace Darling thanks to her heroic rescue from the sunken ship, Forfarshire in 1838.
Different Farne Island boat trips include National Trust landing trips, Sunset Cruises, Puffin/Seal watching and speed boat experiences.
Longer boat trips visit Lindinsfarne/Holy Island which has great christian significance. This mysterious tidal island off Northumberland’s coast becomes inaccessible when the tide washes over its causeway. Our boats visit when the causeway is closed in order to experience the island at its most tranquil and magical. Expect to find charming cafes and bars, the Lindifarne Mead Centre, an ancient priory, and a castle that teeters on the coastline.
