Description
Helmsley Arts Centre is a vibrant place where people from across the North Yorkshire Moors and further afield have the opportunity to engage with a broad range of invigorating and entertaining events.
Originally a Quaker meeting venue, ‘The Old Meeting House Trust’ became a registered charity and recipient of grants from The Arts Council and Ryedale District Council, leading to the first performance taking place in 1993.
Originally a Quaker meeting venue, ‘The Old Meeting House Trust’ became a registered charity and recipient of grants from The Arts Council and Ryedale District Council, leading to the first performance taking place in 1993.
Since then Helmsley Arts Centre has become a thriving performance venue for theatre, music, dance, talks, cinema and live broadcasts, plus exhibitions, classes, and a range of creative activities for children. With a range of events from National Theatre Live performance screenings in our auditorium cinema to our ever-popular Christmas Pantomime produced by our own in-house 1812 Theatre Company, there’s an endless amount of activities to engage with throughout the year. The management of the Arts Centre, initially entirely voluntary, has gradually been professionalised, but as a charity we continue to rely on the generous support of our individual patrons, trustees, businesses, and volunteers to enable the continuation of our work with the enthusiasm of our rural community.
